The mandalas you create are directly linked to your subconscious and are useful tools for self-discovery and healing. Mandalas reflect the maker’s thoughts, ideals, dreams, and outlook at the time they are made. The experience of producing a mandala can be healing, comforting, rejuvenating, or even inspirational. The following classes will be held in my studio this fall. Please call or email if you are interested or have any questions.
In order to run a class, there must be a minimum of three students. If none of these times work for you and you can gather a few friends together we can hold a class at our mutual convenience.
ALTERNATIVE PHOTO PROCESSES Tuesdays (3) November 10 and 17 and December 8 6:30 to 9:30 pm Cost: $135 (includes chemicals)
Cyanotype (blue print) and Van Dyke Brown printing are alternative photo processes. Images are contact printed onto paper or fabric. The surface is coated, exposed to UV light either in the sun or in an exposure unit, developed in water, fixed and rinsed. One session focuses on Cyanotype and one on Van Dyke Brown, with the last session an open studio to focus on either or both techniques.
GELATIN MONOPRINTING Thursday December 10 6:30 to 9:30 pm Cost: $50
This class is for all levels. The process is fun and immediate. Gelatin monoprints are created using a gelatin plate which allows for a range of images from nearly photographic to mysterious and ethereal. As the printing process continues, the soft gelatin plate begins to disintegrate, adding another element to the prints.
PAPERMAKING CLASS Sunday November 15, 10-4 Cost per session: $ 75 includes pulp, pigments, use of molds and deckles
We will learn sheet forming, laminating, inclusions, pigmenting and some molding and casting techniques. Bring items to add to your paper, such as thread, glitter, herbs, pot pourri, feathers, leaves, lace, etc. Also bring objects to mold paper into such as jello molds.
